Topic: Silent Hunter 5 Uplay Update -Warning
19 JUL 2012 at 7:56am IanC Centurion Offline Apparently, if you start Silent Hunter 5 you are notified of patching in progress. This is the new Uplay update.
After patching you cannot access the game at all, so I've found the fix if anyone is affected by this.
In the Uplay Launcher settings area, if you have 'Always Start Uplay In Offline Mode' checked , UNCHECK it after you start the game. Once it logs in you can check it again.

19 JUL 2012 at 10:00am rmielech Centurion Offline The same kind of thing happened with Heroes 6. They fixed it fairly quickly, but even when it works right you've got to click through a few layers of stuff to get to your game.

I recall seeing a vid someone made with a scene from Das Boot where the Kapitan is looking through the periscope, and the creator popped up one of those Uplay connection error screens for a few seconds, then when it came back down - there was a destroyer right in front! Hilarity.
I tried finding that one again recently, but it seems that time has swallowed it - all I can find is the Das Boot series where someone changed the subtitles.
