There might be a security risk in some Ubisoft Games

Here's the article on rock paper shotgun.

You may continue your DRM- Ubisoft bashing...

A-holes and their buggy DRM.    Actually, it makes me wonder if Ubi may have done this on purpose since it's capability is accessing your computer's software.

Luckily I had perused my browser plug-ins and found Ubisoft's secretly installed browser plug-ins awhile back (along with one or two other sneaky bastids' ones). I picked up Silent Hunter 5 because you could play offline (I'm so weak!) but you still have to install that Uplay bullshart.

IIRC, Apple has done this regularly in the past and people got so pissed that the company admitted and (supposedly) removed the secretly installed crap.  But if history is any lesson in that case, then once a company does it - they'll continue to attempt doing so.

This is my fave:

pakoito says:

“We screwed up because we don’t test our apps enough, but we are very serious about it”

B Plan: “We already fired the underpaid intern in charge of the plugin. No more problems to happen. EVER.”

I have voted against Ubisoft with my purse. Settlers 7 for example. I did not bought it despite my interest in the game because of the DRM scheme used.
