Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps Now Available!
Pack your bags and head to northern Africa!

We are excited to announce the release of Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps, the stand-alone expansion to the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Panzer Corps series. A year after release of its predecessor, Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps is packed with new units, new scenarios, new battlegrounds, and much more!

Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps takes place in 1941, a time when the Axis armies seemed to be on the offensive everywhere. With the arrival of the -Deutsches Afrikakorps- or -DAK- in North Africa and its leader Erwin Rommel, the end seemed to be near for the Allies. Players take command of the DAK with the goals of capturing the Suez Canal and the oil-rich lands of the Arabian Peninsula. If they are cunning enough, resourceful and command their troops well, players might be able to strike towards the jewel of the British Empire: India.

New unit types, new scenario objectives that can change during battle, improved AI, new tile-sets, an improved editor and much, much more come loaded in Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps. New players will be able to purchase Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps without the need to already own Panzer Corps, while current players can add the game onto their menu with ease.

Be sure to check out the interview with Flashback Games Alex Shargin and an AAR of one of the scenarios in Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps!

Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps can be purchased as a full stand alone game by players new to the Panzer Corps series. For more information on Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps, visit the official product page on the Slitherine or Matrix Games sites.

About Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps

Welcome to the desert!

The year is 1941 and you will lead the German Afrika Korps, and it`s Axis allies, into Libya and Tunisia during the North African Campaign of World War II.

The reputation of the "Deutsches Afrikakorps" or "DAK" was synonymous with that of its first commander Erwin Rommel. Now it is up to you to overwhelm the Allied forces in North Africa, secure the Suez Canal and take hold of the oil-rich lands of the Arabian Peninsula; maybe even invade the underbelly of the British Empire and threaten its crown jewel: India.

With more than 20 new units, 24 new scenarios, new dynamic and varied scenarios and weather types, players will have their wits and tactics tested in this turn-based strategy game of the award-winning Panzer Corps series!

The interview is almost unintelligible.  He has a pretty heavy accent and there is an echo in the room.  Combine the two and it is just irritating.

Granted, the interview was difficult to understand but the game is first rate and I'm certainly looking forward to the other expansions planned. Well worth the $20 bucks, IMHO. Still trying to figure out how to crack the Persian scenario when everything is being thrown at you (Russians, US and British ground and air forces), you have to deny several lend-lease convoys safe passage, and secure a multitude of objectives scattered around the map. And this on the Lieutenant level...

For those who might have problems hearing the voice over clearly, try this:

Go into any scenario, on the main UI go to menu, set the sound option louder and the music option softer. Restart your game and listen if the voice over is now better. Repeat until your are satisfied.

First Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps review just came in from 7IDGaming, giving it a stunning 90%!

Afrika Korps is much better and even more comprehensive than it`s already very entertaining predecessor. The emerging atmosphere is dense and authentic. A "Must Buy" for strategy gamers.

I bought the game - download plus disk copy.  Then had a four day business trip.

When I came back - the physical copy had arrived.  Excellent service!

Then I opened up the game, and no printed manual.  Purchasers of a stand-alone, physical copy game should have a printed manual.  This is not an expansion.  This is a stand alone game.  This is a big negative.

Actually, the situation with the manual is even worse.  There is NO MANUAL for Afrika Corps.  They repeat the same manual that you got with the original Panzer Corps.

This is inexcusible.  There are new units, new terrain and even new obstacles (mines) - yet no manual.

I uninstalled/reinstalled and checked all of the files to confirm this.  There is no new manual.

Airboy, I'm with you! I also purchased the boxed edition of Afrika Corps & the first thing I had my girlfriend check when opening it (I had my hands full with something else) was to inform me of the inside contents. What no manual? This must be a mistake, they forgot to include one. But not so you say, Airboy.

The least they could have done was to include a printed manual of Panzer Corps with an addendum of the new additions, features, instructions for Afrika Corps.

Also if this wasn't going to be provided there should have been a note mentioning this in the purchase description.

Slitherine/Matrix won't you at least provide boxed version customers with a quality addendum of which I speak? Right now I do feel let down in buying this stand-alone even if the game might be fantastic.

Hi guys, I will pass this onto Slith/Matrix, but I believe only the collectors edition boxes come with a full printed colour manual, like Panzer Corps Wehrmacht.

Panzer Corps: Wehrmacht

Hit the yellow CL button for more info.

Panzer Corps Afrika, has no such symbol.

Panzer Corps: Afrika Korps

I will check with Iain if this was intended or a mistake.

As comfort we are working on a manual addendum that we of course will provide online free asa we have it finished.

No promises, but I will check what the manual situation is and that at least it is more clear for future customers.

There should, at minimum, be an electronic manual in both the download and the boxed versions.  The manual that comes with the download and the CD is the original manual.  It does not appear to cover any of the changes which are present in the Afrika Corps game.

This is a big marketing blunder.

The Panzer Corps: Wehrmacht manual still covers all basic gameplay and is included as a PDF with AK, the AK addendum is still work in progress. You also have the ingame tutorial missions that are offered in both games for new players. And all new features are covered by ingame tutorial messages!

We just had no more time to finish the addendum completely, certain not a reason enough to postpone any longer the release.

But again we still plan to release one online, as soon as it is done.

All the changes and additions done to the main game and editor are covered in the readme text file that is available in the root folder.

Here you will find a list of all the updates/changes done to the game and editor from 1.00 until 1.10.

Furthermore we have an online FAQ`s and Common questions forum thread that covers most issues and is constantly updated:

Panzer Corps FAQ`s

And another great Panzer Corps community initiatve has just been launched a Panzer Corps Basic Games Guide and a possible Wiki gameplay page.

Those are the modern tools we have, to keep the time as short and straight as possible between the updates and changes we are implementing on a constant basis on our side, and on the other side the info and feedback about those changes to the fans and players. We just don`t have the manpower and resources to constantly update colour printed manuals.

But as indicated above, we try to compensate that by offering more online and ingame info and support.

You let an arbitrary deadline cause bad marketing decisions.  Not shipping with a manual - at least an addendum on the original manual - was an avoidable marketing mistake.  The time and expense needed to provide an updated electronic manual with shipment is not very great.

Writing and adding 4-6 pages of additions on the electronic manual would have taken what - a week maybe?

Online follow-up is a cop-out.  The product was not ready when shipped.

This was dissapointing for a "stand alone" release.

And what is so weird about this is the game is stable, the game mechanics and decisions made to capture the war in North Africa are well thought out.  That is what takes the time.  Doing the electronic manual addition would have been a minimal time and monetary expense.

Whomever made the marketing decisions and the marketing timeline on this blundered.  An updated manual is not an "unexpected occurance."

Chill, Dudes. This is Panzer Corps nee Panzer General. We don't need no stinkin' manual. If you cain't figure it out on the fly you ain't havin' fun. It is a beer n' pretzels game. Just let it happen, Grasshopper. Best 20$ for a game I ever spent. Best group of guys makin' it too. Yeeh, haw!

Now, if you are talkin' serious manual issues I would storm Vic's barracades about Decisive Campaigns. My kingdom for a decent manual, my kingdom for a decent manual... Oops, didn't mean to derail this thread.

The game was and is released as a digital download product! So this is no retail release yet.

Slitherine and Matrix offer as extra service: DVD Boxes on demand for those who still like their games being shipped in a proper box and they offer:

Digital Express Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it) and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.
Standard Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it), a Printed grayscale manual and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.
Collector's Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it), a Printed full color manual and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.

Boxes on Demand service and symbols

The production, printing and transport costs for this "Boxes on Demand" service are charged integral to the customer who chooses this option, so we are not earning a penny on this service.

The Afrika Korps DVD box is a Digital Express Edition, so you got exactly what you have ordered!

When we release retail versions, we normally in consultation with the local sub-publisher, offer the game as a Collector's Edition. A good example is Panzer Corps: Wehrmacht.

Afrika Korps has not been offered in retail yet, so as a pure digital download, you have selected the DVD on demand service and the only one, we offer at this point is the Digital Express Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it) and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.

So there are no marketing blunders, you just expected something else, but in the end just got what you ordered and is clearly stated on the websites. The changes made are also included, again see the readme file available the the root folder and all new features are explained by in game tutorial messages.

We will however see how we can make it even more clear to avoid future confusion.

I still hope you enjoy the game though... even without the addendum that will follow shortly! :-)

Dale H., you paid $20 for it. Airboy and I paid $35 expecting a bit more. The release of this wasn't advertised clearly that's why there is some disappointment for a stand-alone.

Lord Zimoa, you're absolutely correct that this release was not made clear. Furthermore the link you provided above (your earliest response to Airboy and I) to Afrika Korps showed no indication or symbol for Digital Express. Look for yourself. In future releases please insure the symbols you indicate are included with the advertisements.

You guys are absolutely right and I will bring this to the attention of Slitherine and Matrix, my apologies, I hope the quality and fun of the game compensates a bit the pain...  and will I see what I can do to compensate.

Lord Zimoa, I appreciate your humbleness and resolve regarding the missing product symbol. As far as I'm concerned the matter is in good hands. I personally thank you for reviewing this case and striving to enhance an already fantastic pc wargame. Keep up the good work. I've purchased all the Panzer Corp dlc's but haven't gotten too far (other priority challenges at the moment).

As a side question, are you planning a similar features/style pc title where one can play any of the major allied or axis powers (U.S., UK, Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan)? It seems like that would be quite a task. But we can dream. Right? Maybe such a title already exists. Do you have a recommendation?

Thanks again for your time, attitude, and conscientiousness.

Thank you,

We have already announced Panzer Corps expansions from the Allied side, we will cover both the Western as the Soviet Allies.

First however, on the planning are 3 more Axis Western Grand Campaign DLC`s: `43 West, `44 West and `45 West.

And of course the Mac and iPad porting of the Panzer corps series.

Pacific expansions are undecided yet.

My apologies. I agree. If buying the stand alone product & a printed manual was promised then you are correct to complain. I bought PzC:AK as DLC to my existing PzC. The manual included on the disk is all I need.

I don't think a printed manual was ever promised.  The symbol was apparenly left off of the product page, but the product page in the Matrix store clearly states pdf manual.

Hi guys,

Both Slitherine and Matrix shops are now updated so it is more clear the DVD on demand version for Afrika Korps is only available as Digital Express Edition.

Afrika Korps has not been offered in retail yet, so is as a pure digital download release, the DVD on demand service we offer at this point, is the Digital Express Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it) and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.

To be clear you still can download the digital version when choosing for a DVD on Demand service, so for those who like boxes you get both. So you can upon purchase; download the game and start playing, while the DVD box is being shipped to you.

Thank to those who mentioned the possible confusion or disappointment and the feedback. Our apologies this was apparently not made more clear enough to some upon release.
