Who had a chance to watch Hatfields & McCoys?

A mini-series on HBO starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton. For a mini-series, it doesn't get much better then that.

It's focused on the renowned fued of the Hatfield and McCoys. Kind of a "Western", without being in the West. (It's actually based around West Virginia)

I found it to be a very great series. 3 episodes of 2 hours each. Violence, sadness, love stories, the whole bit...

HERE is some more info for those interested.

It was an enjoyable series but like many "historical" film, facts were placed second to story. For example, the fact that Hatfield deserted was never a bone of contention for McCoy because he deserted too. Also the judge "Uncle Wall" Hatfield (Powers Boothe) was not as a benign and morally sound individual as depicted. Casting these issues aside however, the film was an excellent way to learn about the feud and I'm sure prompted many to read more about it, which is always a good thing. Oh and Tom Berringer as "Uncle Jim" was fantastic!

One small note. It was actually a History Channel production, not HBO. They are repeating it on the 16th on that channel. I just hope they don't butcher it, by adding a zillion commercials to it.

Was that it? My apologies.

I recommend it for anyone to catch it on that date.

Prolly better to wait for the DVD.  No commercials & bathroom breaks whenever I need.

It's already out on DVD. I watched it via Netflix a couple of weeks ago and like others mentioned it was great! Great acting and I found myself browsing online the differences between the series and the "facts."
