How about, "So many drugs, so little time."
Just teasin' ya, Isaiah. But seriously, for the average reader, your recent posts on this thread have become pretty close to unintelligible.

Sorry, Vic. Here we go. Tried quoting your original post and my post keeps timing out and crashing to a page fault. Let me give Quick Reply a whirl here. 1. No AI ? Yes, just as I would play solitaire with a board wargame on a topic of interest to me, fooling around with it on my own using Aide de Camp software or just pushing cardboard counters. However, "no AI" will restrict your potential customer base to the diehard few. 2. Weak and defensive AI ? There are many such games.
3. I don't mind giving the AI some advantages to level the playing field, though not to the point of getting owned by outrageous cheating. 4/5. PBEM cheaters ? The same issue, really. For example, Strategic Command will show you how many times your opponent reloaded the file, but if he's determined to keep trying until he gets the best result, there's nothing to prevent him from just downloading your last move again, overwriting the tainted game file. Aside from a few basic safeguards to discourage casual cheating, what more can you do ? It all comes down to trust in PBEM. IMO, the best way to discourage cheating is to establish a personal rapport with your opponent. Or only play against those whom you already like and trust. 6. Yes. If that's what you have on the drawing board, I look forward to the end result.

I made a Betademo. I could really use info on: -if it runs on your system (i programm on XP) -if the basis gameplay principle is sound (i play only with MY friends) -if you like it ( or hate it and why) -what should be improved upon -etc.. I set up a small website where you can download the betademo and post comments. www.reijkersz.nl Friendly greetings, Vic

Vic, is there a readme or help file available with rules and such? I didn't see anything in the zip file. I'll download the beta and provide some comments later on your other forum, maybe next week.

Hey Vic, I am also a independent/hobby game developer, so I think I understand where your coming from. You are woefully short of info, but alas I have some great links for you. 1) www.gamedev.net Every question you could want answered can be found there. 2) www.gamasutra.com You can find lots of legal info here. Also, if your worried about the AI being horrible or just releasing the game without an AI, just step back and re-group. There are many great books out there that will teach you how to create a decent AI. Maybe you should take more time to get it done right, you might find this is the most fulfilling path to go. Just my 2 cents, good luck.

Les, Ok.. surf to www.reijkersz.nl Swatt, And thank you Swatter. I knew the links of course. But i agree with you on only doing a gold release if the AI is a challenge.
