You know I wish they made more games like West Front and East Front. No, I am not refering to the gameplay or the AI, but the ability to switch between 2D and 3D. While I am a HEX based gamer and enjoy a good game, I like the ability to watch on the 3D level. I usually make all my moves in 2D and then switch to 3D with animation to watch my results and the AI reaction. We have computers with graphic abilities, why not take advantage of it. I know I will here it from the die hard hex base gronards, but I really like to watch the action in the 3D view. I am sure someone will say then why don't you go play Warcraft or some other RTS. Turn base is great and the new AIs (Korsun Pocket) are getting better. We take advantage of computer power for, the AI, database of units, rolling, even the board. Maybe more games should come out like West Front and give the player the ability to switch between. From a business persepective - I think have the ability to switch from hexbase to isometric 3d (ie WestFront) would bring more people into wargamming. Any thoughts.

I would love to see a 2D game like TacOps upgraded with the 3D features of Combat Mission. Plot your moves and everything using the 2D map with unit icons, but be able to zoom in to individual units and look at the terrain. That would be cool.

It would be great but I think the biggest problem is cost. Decent 3D graphics (and who would want less?) are expensive and IMHO are less important than gameplay. Give it a few years when 3D engines are realistically (or should that be 'Unreal' - listically [atrocious jokes R us]) priced and we're there.
