A friend has given me his old copy of Panzer General II to try. I like the original PG and downloaded Peoples General to try. Strange thing is that PGII doesn't seem to want to install on my Win2K system whereas I didn't have any problems with the other two programs. Anybody out there running PGII on Win2000?   Any tricks I need to use? Thanks!

Check this site out for working/non-working interoperability and work arounds. http://www.ntcompatible.com/compat.php?cat=All&idx=p&sort=Windows2000&st=50 It says that PG2 will work in win2k. Here's what it says under details for PG2 on win2k:
Copy "Maps" directory from CD to "Panzer2" directory. IMPT: Highlight all the map files and switch off read-only attribute.

Hmmm... it might run, if I could get it to install. I get the splash screen, click on install, and then nothing happens other than the the install screen goes away. Thanks anyway.........................M

Did you try exploring the CD and setting the installer exe to run in compatibility mode before starting it directly? Instead of using autorun?? *shrug*

Yep. No dice. Just one of those things I guess.   Not sure if PGII is worth the trouble since I have PG and Peoples General as well and they work. Thanks for the suggestions. Cheers

Hello Mythic Sorry to hear about your troubles, I would really recommend trying to get PG II on there, I found it the best of all three games in my opinion, lots of replay value as well. You know your system better than I do of course, just wanted to let you.

Consider staying with People's General. You might want to look into this site too. http://pub131.ezboard.com/bjpspanzers Lots of material to look at. Also here. http://www.peachmountain.com/5star/ A lot of people think People's General has the better engine, and you can add the PG 2 files to it (I think). Worth looking either way.
This account for sale. You're just going to have to deal with conversing with me on properly administered forums. The 5% minority here is not worth it.
