The US has one of the longest lasting governments. We are a young NATION however.
Feel more pride in my nation than my government. Sure many others do also.

Reading the quotes , i guess that you guys can feel proud of what you country (US) achieved. It is legitimate .
As it is legitimate that anybody should feel proud (one way or the other) about its own country . If you get deep into the history, social and cultural achievements of many countries , you will find many reasons for people to feel proud of their own country . It happens in every continent and every country.
I guess it is also important to look beyond one's own mirror to have a look at other people achievements []

Interesting post. I never thought of it that way.
Someone once said that England and America are two nations seperated by a common language. English is not the same as American, now will it ever be, just the same as neither one is the same as australian or Canadian. Each is basically English to begin with, but with widely divergent slang, colloquilisms and general usage. Which is why we always end up explaining ourselves to each other whenever we meet. A "barbie" is a lot different to an American and an Australian, and so is a "boot" or "bonnet" to an Englishman. And absolutely no one, including other Englishmen, can understand a Lancashireman.

Actually you speak differently from state to state.
Unlike here in Australia, a country the same size as the US, with a population of only 20,000,000, we speak and sound exactly the same right around the country.
It is the Canadians, especially those in the western provinces, who speak the clearest English.
