I agree it isn't as good as Sopranos, but Sopranos was only really great for seasons 1-2 (maybe throw in 3). SOA is trashier, soapier, but still loads of fun.

Agreed on SOA, however Sopranos was the bomb all the way through the last scene of the last season. I've watched the whole thing through three times;^) It just gets better. With the Sopranos there is so much subtle stuff like realizing every time these guys hug they are looking for weapons on the other guy. It takes a few time through just to realize how incredibly evil Tony is. Guess I'm a Fan boy on this one!

SOA is meant to be a riff on Hamlet. That's where the Jax subplot comes from. Dead Dad speaking to him through the unpublished manuscript, Clay as King Claudius, etc. Really it's the main plot of the show, with everything else as subplot.

I'm liking SOA pretty much. Though it lacks some of the authenticity of its genre predecessors. Sopranos, Shield, The Wire.

1] Bikers run drugs

2] gangsters don't usually shoot up a couple of grand worth of lumber, they already stole, to test automatic weapons.

3] I just don't get this whole subplot of Jack being obsessed with a, better vision, for the club. Jack is a hood just like the rest of them. He just seems to want to wait longer before whacking suspected snitches. He also seems to want a few more "Legit" revenue streams, like the porn operation. But bikers have been shooting porn forever.

4] Bikers and Nazi's are natural allies 'specialy in prison, with a lot of cross membership and sentiments.

5] Mexicans don't ride motorcycles.

The Jacks subplot is about the manuscript his father left with Piney (and in a box Jacks found in the garage). Apparently, Jacks's (real) father, Clay and Piney (all I know so far) started the MC. Things didn't go the way he planned and he was killed. For the last two seasons, they have been dribbing and drabbing little bits of information about what's in the manuscript. The coming attractions after last weeks episode (11/3/09) show Piney talking to Jacks about how his dad saw all the current troubles of the club coming and wrote them in the manuscript. What exactly and how it turns out is still up in the air, but that's why we watch.

As far as drugs (and bikers running them), Clay and the gang seem to be against them (except for pot). The AB is pumping meth into Charming through Darby (Mitch Pileggi) and SAMCRO has shut him down like three times. So these must be altruistic bikers.

She's back again this year. When Clay, Jacks, Bobby (the ugliest Elvis impersonator I have EVER Seen), and the computer wiz were in jail. She tried to get Clay, then Jacks to roll over on the Club. Of course they didn't, but she let a little nugget of info fall, ATF wasn't after them no more. They wanted the Irish connection (who is now cozying up to Alice Baker).

Speaking of the AB, I can see Henry Rollins as a White Supremacist, but Adam Arkin? That's some weird sh*t!

My GF and her daughter watches it and so do I when its on and I'm over there. It is pretty good.. And all the girls think Jack is hot.
Peg really does a great job as ma biker.
My favorite part so far was last year when the female FBI agent, who's banging the ass hole deputy, got acting all high and mighty in the interview room. Biker dude grabs her by the head and bangs a drum solo on the table with it... The after make up job was priceless

Anyone here watching Sons Of Anarchy? It's on Fx Channel Tuesdays at 10 EDT. It started last year and stars Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal. That's right, Peg Bundy as Badass Biker Chick! And it works!! Her character, Jemma, is Ron Perlmans character, Clay Morrow, old lady. The cover for the motorcycle club is a car/motorcycle repair shop, but the real business is running guns. They have the Chief of Police in their pocket, but his deputy wants to shut them down. They are rivals with a Hispanic biker gang, the Mayans. They are currently allied with a black gang, the Niners (to whom they supply guns). And now the Aryan Brotherhood has shown up (in an interesting incarnation) to dispute S(ons) of A(narchy) M(otorcycle) C(lub) R(edwood) O(riginal)'s control of Charming, California. So, anyone?
