What is this thread about again?
Just remember kids, when you need something wholesome and innocent like Sesame Street twisted into something sick and perverted - I'm just a phone call away.

ActionJack: if the Geneva Conventions were supposed to protect civilians under every circumstance, ...

We can stop right there because your premise is wrong and certainly not one I’ve put forth.

Still, inventing an entire new category with no historical precedent and thus no rights under any convention is not the best way to address the problem. Real terrorists should be shot/strung on a pole as quickly as possible, but there should still be a trial to determine who the terrorists are, if possible.

But there is historical and legal precedent within the U.S. starting with the Civil War and progressing to the end of WWII.  These matters were address within the law, challenges made, rulings passed down.  It is only now that our courts have ignored legal precedent.  As to shooting combatants who hide themselves among the populous, there’s precedent for that too.  What's NEW is the current handling of these prisoners.

OK, I guess I must have missed that whole page. Sorry. I don't sit on here all the time. As to teaching history, ideally whole and true history should be thought. Having grown up in Poland, where history that was thought was selectively managed, I still made an effort to find out the truth. If someone is interested in the subject they will find a way beyond any "official" guidelines. On the other hand for those who don't care if makes no difference.
