Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood has gone gold, Ubisoft and Gearbox Studios announced on late Thursday. The new standalone expansion (or sequel) to this spring's World War II tactical first-person shooter will be released in early October on the PC, Xbox, and Playstation 2. Like the original Brothers in Arms (
first impressions), Earned in Blood centers around the story behind the 101st Airborne's operations in the days following D-Day. Playing as a squad leader in this famed unit, gamers lead a small crew of troops through French fields and towns, rooting out German resistance using sound military tactics and strategies. Unlike other, more typical FPS games, Brothers in Arms downplays the need for extreme accuracy based on player twitch skills, and instead encourages players to use the game's squad control manuevers to suppress enemies and flank them.
Following the success of the first game, Earned in Blood adds a new storyline and missions, new game modes, new multiplayer missions, and an all-new cooperative game mode. The game will be released on October 4th, priced at $50. For more, check out our recent
