Although the game was rumored to be in the works three years ago
, 1C and Ubisoft confirmed at this year's E3 expo that Oleg Maddox and the team behind the IL-2 Sturmovik (review
) series were working on a new PC flight-sim entitled Storm of War: Battle of Britain. This Western Front World War II sim will feature the famed Allied battle against the Luftwaffe in 1940, offering historical scenarios and authentic planes from the era.
“The Maddox series of flight simulators became instant references of the genre and we know that PC gamers are eagerly awaiting the next occasion to ride the skies,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for North America at Ubisoft. “Storm of War: Battle of Britain guarantees a thrilling ride; it is the genuine heir to flight simulator hall-of-famer IL-2.”
