The successor to Space Empires IV (
review), the aptly-named Space Empires V, is the feature of a new gallery of pictures released this week. The six new images show off the game's interface, unit management screen, 3D graphics, and various gameplay elements. This latest game in the long-running 4X space strategy game will add a host of new features, not the least of which is a real-time 3D universe. Other new features include political alliances, top-down shop designs, hexagonal movement grids, 100s of solar systems, 14 unique races, customizable AI opponents, a massive technology tree, and full 3D space battles.
The developer behind Space Empires V, Malfador Machinations, was acquired by Strategy First
earlier this year, bonding the two companies together to produce at least Space Empires V and other unannounced titles.
