0217 - (BC) Battle of Raphia: Ptolemy IV of Egypt defeats Antiochus III the Great of the Seleucid kingdom.
0268 - (BC) Battle of Pydna: Romans under Lucius Aemilius Paullus defeat and capture Macedonian King Perseus, ending the Third Macedonian War.
1476 - Battle at Morat/Murten: Charles the Stout invades Switzerland.
1558 - The French take the French town of Thioville from the English.
1593 - Battle of Sisak: Croat troops defeat the Turks.
1807 - British seamen board the USS Chesapeake, a provocation leading to the War of 1812.
