Paradox Interactive and Kerberos Productions announced today the release of Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter, the sequel to cult favorite strategy game Sword of the Stars. The sequel expands on the story from the previous venture, including space combat and galactic conquest.

Much time has passed from the first installment, with the races from the first game now established in the galaxy. New challenges and technologies await the players, as well as an ancient enemy from the past, one that you can make an ally, if they dare.

With a completely new graphics engine, players can navigate their fleets in a full 3-D environment to target weak points in enemy ships and utilize space tactics for the upper hand. However, not all of Sword of the Stars II is about blowing up your enemy, players must also manage their space empire as it grows, with important decisions such as technology and government which can affect the outcome of a game in many of ways, leading to nearly unlimited replayability.
