Distant Worlds - Legends Released
Second expansion to 4X strategy series now available.
Matrix Games, Slitherine, and Code Force announcd today the release of the second expansion to the Distant World series, titled Distant Worlds - Legends. This expansion to the 4X strategy series brings with it a new character system, new technologies, an expanded tech tree and improved AI.
The new character system adds Leaders, Admirals, Generals, Governors, Ambassadors, Scientists and Agents, each with abilities and perks and opportunities that will improve over time. However, players must be careful, as these characters can die in battle or be assassinated.
Gameplay has also been extended for existing races as well, with race-specific events, new technologies and victory condititions that are entirely dependent on your choices. Players can look forward to new weapons of war, such as dedicated carriers, cutting lasers, rail guns, and more. There is also a hidden faction that awaits discovery.
Distant Worlds - Legends also includes a new model for borders and spheres of influence for each faction, as well as new fleet management and automation commands, which will make it easier for players to manage their empire. Along with improved and additional overlays for the main galaxy map, Legends is all about enhancing the player's experience.
With the release of Distant Worlds - Legends, it is also part of Matrix Games and Slitherine's 2011 Holiday Sale, along with the first expansion Return of the Shakturi and the original base game. Starting today and lasting until January 8, 2012, the base game is on sale for $26.99, with Return of the Shakturi running for $16.99. Distant Worlds - Legends will run for $19.99 as part of the sale. It should be noted that to play Distant Worlds - Legends, players much have both Distant Worlds and Distant Worlds - Return of the Shakturi installed.
