Paradox Interactive announced today the release of Crusader Kings II, the sequel to the original, developed by the same team that helmed Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, and Victoria series. Customers can pick it up via all major digital distribution services and selected retail stores for $39.99.

Crusader Kings II puts players in the robes of a king that rules a kingdom in Europe. Players can be a morally corrupt and evil king that rules with an iron fist, or a pious and kind king that rules with serenity and kindness. Either way, players will have to manage relationships with their subjects and people so that they keep their bloodline and kingdom strong and survive through the terrible and volatile period of the 11th to the 15th century. Those that aren't careful may find themselves on the wrong end of a sharp knife to the back or tossed out by a rioting crowd.

With grand strategy roots, Crusader Kings II will also challenge players in making decisions such as territorial influence and marrying into power and expansion. With medieval Europe as their playground, players will enjoy both strategic and tactical combat and situations.

Paradox Interactive also released a new trailer, which can be viewed by clicking here. For more information on Crusader Kings II and purchasing information, click here for the official site.
