Battlefront.com announced today the release of the first module for Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy titled Commonwealth Forces. The new module adds in historically accurate UK, Canadian, and Polish Free Forces units, formations, weapons and vehicles to the ground-based tactical wargame.

Also included with the module are dozens of new scenarios and QuickBattle maps, as well as two in-depth campaigns. Combined with the level of detail in both unit and tactical gameplay, Commonwealth Forces is shown the same amount of attention.

The German Army has also received new formations, such as "Waffen SS" and Luftwaffe Field Divisions to round out the enemies the Commonwealth faced in World War II. They will be equipped not only with their regular field weapons, but also the infamous King Tiger and Jagdpanther tanks to face off against the Commonwealth's Churchill, Cromwell, Stuart and Firefly tanks.

Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy - Commonwealth Forces is available at Battlefront.com's site for $35, and can be purcahsed via digital download, mail delivery, or both here. An updated free demo will be made available in the next week or two for those that want to give the new module a try.

Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy is also the recent winner of Wargamer's Wargame of the Year 2011 Gold Community Award, which can be viewed here!
