News Round-Up – Warlord Games, Matrix Sale, New Game!06 Jan 2017 0
Welcome back folks, and happy 2017! How are you finding it so far?
We hope you had a great time over the holiday period – outflanking enemies, stocking up on supplies, heated engagements... and that's just your family! Being the first week in January, it's a bit of a slow news period, but there are a few tid-bits worth your attention.
Holiday Sale - Last Chance!
Your favourite wargames company were hitting the sales hard over the Christmas period, with respectable discounts across their entire range. Those discounts are about to come to an end, so if you've been holding out, now is the time. If you're a mobile wargamer, there's also one last chance to nab some great iOS wargames on the cheap, as our sister site Pocket Tactics has reported.
Every Single Soldier - New Project: The studio behind Vietnam '65, the upcoming Afghanistan '11 (which we hope to look at soon) AND the upcoming Carrier Deck management game, has decided that he doesn't have nearly enough work to do, so is going to be starting work on another game. Say hello to South West Africa '86!
No idea what it will entail, but we have a suspicion it has something to with the South West of Africa, in 1986.
Sanctus Reach Reminder: Sanctus Reach is due out on January 19th. You can read my preview of it here, but we should be getting our hands on review code soon so look out for our final verdict on the day.
Warlord Games Store
This is for our growing UK audience (You are growing, right?) - you may remember that we reported some time ago regarding Warlord Games, creators of Bolt Action, Hail Caesar & Beyond the Gates of Antares, regarding how they wanted to open their own physical store.
That store is now open, according to the company's official website. The opening hours are:
Weekdays 12pm – 6pm
Saturdays 10am – 4pm
They are holding an official 'Grand Opening' celebration on Saturday 28th January. Keep an eye on their website for more details.
Fantasy Flight Previews RuneWars
As you may know, Fantasy Flight is expanding its own skirmish wargames offering by creating a game based on their RuneWars IP.
RuneWars: The Miniatures Game is basically a fantasy version of their X-Wing game, complete with dials and movement templates. In their most recent preview article, they look at how you give commands to your units via the Action & Stance Modifier Wheels.
We suggest you give the article a full read if you're into you fantasy skirmish games (and perhaps missing Warhammer Fantasy?).
That's all for this week, have a good weekend and happy gaming!
