Star Trek Away TeamNot So EliteThe AI programming is strange. Away Team members will allow enemies to kill them if the player does nothing. If these officers are the crème de la crème, why do they not return fire on their own? The enemy AI is flawed as well. They will sometimes miss a dead or stunned comrade and at the same time are incredibly accurate shots. Multi-officerStar Trek Away Team has a multi-player component. Missions can be played in cooperative mode over a LAN between two players with TCP/IP or IPX.
Phasers on kill?Star Trek Away Team has good combination of graphics and sound but it lacks gameplay that is appealing. A good book to describe the playing of this game is Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. The reviewer spent the first half of Star Trek Away Team unable to stop playing and the last half wishing it was over already. The puzzle style missions began to frustrate the reviewer near the middle of the game and he started to feel like a rat in a maze trying to find the way out to the cheese. If this review did not require that the game be completed, the reviewer would have quit way before the game was finished. If you liked the game Commandos and are a fan of Star Trek, give this game a try. If you are looking for Star Trek meets Jagged Alliance or do not like timing the patrol pattern of guards, skip it until Star Trek Away Team hits the bargain bins.
