Warhammer 40,000 is all about BIG STUFF in space, with said stuff often killing any poor souls trapped inside. One of the best examples of these colossal dangers are the iconic space hulks. These ships are a veritable treasure trove of lost relics and crucial history about mankind. At the same time, they are filled to the brim with deadly traps, endless corridors, and vicious vagrants. If you've ever wanted to see how it felt exploring one of these by yourself, then 2D6 Void might be the TTRPG for you.

2D6 Void is a solo RPG which pits the player against the Dark Hulk. This gargantuan battleship is destroying Coradine's defenses. It is up to you, a lone pilot adventurer, to explore all ten of its levels, find the engine room, and blow it out of your planet's atmosphere.  You have three class options: Freighter Captain, Space Police Officer, and Bounty Hunter, and all run on the 2D6 engine.

For the unfamiliar, the 2d6 engine is a rules-lite system built for modularity. Thanks to that quality, practically any setting can work for it. Unlike many rules-lite systems, however, 2d6 is still quite gameplay focused. Combat flows easy and exploration is packed with narrative opportunities. Given the many, many rooms in the Dark Hulk, you will make ample use of those storytime chances.

Early backers can also get access to add-on packs which add cool content. The PAL-BOT adds a funny lil droid to follow you around the hulk. The Space Pirates expansion adds these galactic reavers to the game for some extra swerves.  I love the game's setting, and I especially love how in-depth the dev goes into its many intricacies. If you can't decide, give creator Toby Lancaster's explainer videos a shot.

The 2D6 Void Kickstarter campaign ends on January 6, 2026.You don't need to go solo once you join the Wargamer Discord. If one extra dance partner's all you need, then these best board games for couples are a great time.
