Experience the rich history of dungeon crawling with this adventure for DIE RPG

DIE RPG, arguably one of the most compelling and unique tabletop RPGs of the millenium, is about to get a massive megadungeon of its own

DIE RPG cover of official rulebook

The humble tabletop RPG has cultivated countless stories that just ooze creativity. For all the focus that traditional fantasy settings such as the Forgotten Realms get, the TTRPG space is home to more than ghouls and goblins. From the gothic World of Darkness to the psychedelic Everyone is John, interactive roleplay offers so much to the world of storytelling.

And very few TTRPGs tackle the medium like DIE RPG.

For the unfamiliar, DIE RPG is a tabletop RPG about tabletop RPGs. The premise follows players in the "real world" (known as Personas) who find themselves transported into a fantasy realm that's not quite right. It quickly becomes apparent this realm is not some prewritten fantasy, but their very own twisted psyche. Their fears and desires have taken on a sick sort of un-life in this world. Yet this place gives you powers to face these all-too-real problems with the tools of imagination.

The conflict comes not from external threat, but how these fantasies warp their "real" Personas. That metanarrative extends to the mechanics themselves, with cynical takes on classic tabletop archetypes. Bards become Dictators, master emotional manipulators of magical words. Clerics/Warlocks are fused into Godbinders, casters who bargain with the gods to make miracles happen (at affordable rates!).

So when I say that Enter the Metadungeon is one of the most ambitious expansions for an already ambitious game, I mean it. The eponymous megadungeon is split into different eras of tabletop gaming's rich history. Every level in this labyrinth will be equal parts nostalgia and nightmare, just the space that DIE RPG excels in.  But take care to not get lost in memories. Because the Metadungeon is a dungeon for a reason, and it will use everything at its disposal to keep you trapped in its fantasy.

Check out Enter the Metadungeon on the official website.

For real-real players to chat with, the Wargamer Discord has plenty of Personas. For a party of just you, the best solo RPGs might be to your liking.
