Because the Emperor is merciful, one of the year's most impressive mobile tactical games is making the jump to PC very shortly: Warhammer 40K Deathwatch Tyrannid Invasion, which almost has a name long enough to qualify as a Welsh town. We loved Deathwatch over at Pocket Tactics for its approachable but highly variable combat and its never-ending feed of collectible loot and customizable gear. Veteran mobile devs Rodeo Games have handled the PC port themselves, and if it has the level of polish that we've come to expect from their iOS stuff then this should be an easy recommendation to make. Rodeo have told me that this PC version of Deathwatch will have all of the in-app purchases stripped right out of the game and it's been re-balanced around that. A welcome development.

The thing to watch out for is the UI. This will be Rodeo's first attempt at a mouse-driven interface -- the PC port of their last game, Warhammer Quest, was handled by a third party.

We'll let you know when there's a concrete release date for Deathwatch.
