Historicon 2020 Cancelled12 May 2020 0
One of the biggest historical miniatures conventions of the year - Historicon - has had to cancel its 2020 show because of the current COVID-19 crises. The news came today to HMGS members via an email from the group’s president John Spiess.
Generally countries like the UK and US largely remain in lockdown, although some US states are slowly starting to open-up basic services again. The general consensus though is that even as territories start to open business and public spaces again, large gatherings of people could still face severe restrictions until the end of the year.
In the letter, Mr. Spiess commented:
While we had hoped the current situation might change sooner rather than later, it is clear this will not happen. Therefore it is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of Historicon 2020.
The event was due to be held in July; you can read our report from last year’s Historicon here. The full text of the statement is as follows:
The next event in HMGS’ schedule of yearly gatherings is Fall In!, which is due to take place in November. You can read our write up of last year’s event here. Currently it is still going ahead but it will depend on the situation.
