New Warhammer 40K Tactical Wargame Announced - Sanctus Reach

Slitherine & Matrix Games have just announced a new title set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe - Sanctus Reach!

Created by newcomers Straylight Entertainment, this will be the first game to use Slitherine/Matrix's new 'Archon' 3D engine, and my, how pretty it looks! Sanctus Reach is a turn-based strategy game that sounds like it might be a cross between Armageddon and Dawn of War 2, but it's still early days yet. What we do know is that this game is set during another well-known conflict in the 40K lore, and will involve the Space Wolves and the Ork (again) factions.

In the company's own words:

Command several dozen different authentically crated units and heroes, each with unique and extremely detailed 3D models that bring the world of Warhammer 40,000 to life. The gameplay is rich and varied: spend your points, make your list, choose your deployment, and fight!

Units at your disposal have different abilities, strengths and weaknesses, can level up and are carried over between scenarios. Choose among many different types of weapons, watch your flanks and make wise use of the terrain: any tactical choice will be vital.

This won't be Slitherine's only new sally into the grim darkness of the far future. Armageddon, their 2D turn-based wargame based on the iconic Wars for Armageddon, is getting a stand-alone expansion titled Da Orks! which is due out on August 18th on PC & iOS. You can read a recent (official) developer interview here.

Along with a handful of screenshots, we also have this short and sweet teaser trailer for Sanctus Reach. Enjoy!
