Strategy - a new UK 24-hour gaming event - is coming this August

This week we've been talking a lot about table-top wargaming and the future. Richard Bodley-Scott, creator of Pike & Shot, is worried it's dying out. Our man Bill Gray has other ideas, but it essentially boils down to a question of culture and event atmosphere.

Here in the UK, we have our fair share of events – mostly competitions, but a few trade shows as well. There's Salute as a the 'headline' show, and then there are smaller regional gatherings like Broadside in Kent, and WARFARE in Reading. Not bad all things considered, but it could be better.

The master-minds behind the MCM London Comic Con have come together and announced 'Strategy', a new event dedicated to board games, card games, miniatures games and role-playing games, all with a more strategy orientated focus. There will be a large dedicated tournament and playing space, and to top it off, the venue will be open 24-hours-a-day from Thursday until Sunday, one of the very few events to offer round-the-clock access.

Tickets are already on sale, and there is an early-bird discount running until July 27th. You can find out more information on their store page, but at the moment a 4-day pass will set you back around £30 (we're not sure if this is pre or post discount).

Table Top Gaming Mag has a neat summary of everything announced so far, and you should also check out the official website to keep up to date with the latest games, seminars and workshops.

Strategy is being held at the Telford International Centre, 25th to the 28th August. We hope to see you there!
