A strange Bard from the Beast RPG, beating a flaming drum, their eyes blazing

Released in 2023, Beast is a hidden movement board game utterly dripping with theme, in which a team of hunters search the frozen wilderness for an elusive, and utterly lethal, fantasy beast. Developer Studio Midhall is busy adapting the world of Beast into a brand new, D&D 5e-compatible roleplaying game - and on Monday November 17 Wargamer will welcome lead designers into our free Discord for a live AMA session with the community. You can join them and put your questions to the development team to learn what they've got in store!

The AMA will take place on November 17 at 8.30am PST / 11.30am EST / 4.30pm GMT in the Wargamer community Discord. Lead rules designer Chris Sims and lead artist (and studio co-founder) Aron Midhall will be there to answer your questions, live.

The great wolf Fangrir mounts a building in the RPG Beast

Chris Sims has worked on three editions of D&D and has credits in both the 2014 and 2024 rules, about as strong a foundation as you could hope for to lead on an RPG adaptation using the 5e rules. As for Aron Midhall's credentials, his art was at the core of the Beast board game and setting, and it's perfectly suited for an RPG. You can learn more about Beast the Roleplaying Game from its Kickstarter page.

The Beast board game takes place in the icy Northern Expanse, a region of untamed natural beauty once thought uninhabited. Human settlers have learned the error of their ways, because the mountains, forests, and river valleys are the hunting ground of titanic beasts. The game gives each of these boss monster energy, with a unique name as well as a distinct set of powers.

A Binder character in the Beast RPG - a humanoid figure dressed in a great blue robe, obscured by a mask

The upcoming RPG is set to expand on the world, and explain the cataclysmic Shattering that has allowed the great beasts into reality. And as you'd expect from a game based on D&D 5e, it adds new DnD classes and subclasses, spells, and of course monsters.

We hope you'll join use for the Beast RPG AMA on November 17. Even if you can't make it, you're very welcome in the Wargamer community Discord. If you've played Beast - whether you think it's one of the best board games ever, or seriously undercooked - we'd love to hear your thoughts.
