Described as "The world's first dodgeball card game", Throw Throw Burrito is currently available for $9.99 on Amazon, as part of their Black Friday sale. Throw Throw Burrito is a Board Game published by Exploding Kittens, the company known for Poetry for Neanderthals, Happy Salmon, and (of course) Exploding Kittens. It's definitely closer to Twister than it is to something like Settlers of Catan, but it makes for a fun food chucking romp.

The best way to learn to play Throw Throw Burrito is to watch the official YouTube tutorial narrated by Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley from Community). It's honestly a delight to watch, and it's perhaps the closest thing to a Community movie we've got at the moment.

If you're not up for watching the explainer video, have no fear, as I'll do my best to lay out the rules here.

The aim of the game is to collect points by gathering sets of three matching cards. Throughout the game, you will always have five cards in your hand, but you can discard cards in order to draw more. Everyone draws and discards their cards in real time; there are no turns here. Once you get three matching cards, play them in front of yourself, and leave them there until you get to endgame scoring.

You're probably wondering where the burritos come into all of this? Well, the game includes two burrito plushies, and when you match a set of three "battle cards", a burrito battle begins, pitting other players against one another. There are a variety of different forms this can take: Burrito Brawls, Burrito Wars, or Burrito Duels. While all of these have different rules, fundamentally they all involve racing to grab a burrito and chucking it at an opponent before they bop you with a burrito of their own. Anyone who loses one of these battles takes a "burrito bruise", which deducts one point during scoring.

Once all six of the burrito bruises from the box have been dealt out, players add up the number of matching sets of cards they have amassed, with battle cards counting twice, and reduce this by the number of bruises they've taken to get their final score.

The game is currently on sale on Amazon. An "extreme outdoor edition" is also available for $12.99 that replaces the plush handheld burritos in the base game with inflatable alternatives that are the size of sandbags.
