Professional board games nerds like us have been going on about Disney Villainous for some years - it even enjoyed a fairly long stint on our buyer's guide to the best board games of all time, only knocked off its family gaming pedestal by the delightful Quacks of Quedlinburg.
First released in 2018 by Ravensburger, Villainous puts you in the shoes of an infamous Disney baddie and tasks you with completing your own unique nefarious scheme, before your rival villains finish theirs. Along the way, you'll play Villain cards to beef up your own side and pursue your objectives, while Fate cards let you throw banana skins in front of your opponents in the form of familiar heroes and events from Disney movies.
It's a brilliant formula, and it's sold so mind bogglingly well that there are now no fewer than eight Disney Villainous expansions, building it out with 20 more playable villains, each with their own boards, decks, and play styles. All you actually need to play, though, is this original core set, which comes with six villains to play as: Captain Hook, Prince John, Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar, and the Queen of Hearts.
