If you're looking for some D&D-themed beat-em-up action and have a handful of dollars going spare, you need to know about this Humble Bundle deal, which could be an early Christmas present to yourself. The Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is on sale now for just $4.94, a 67% discount on its usual $14.99 price tag.
A 2013 port which combines two classic Capcom arcade games from the 90s, Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has an 81% positive rating on Steam. That's because it's a surprisingly strong port of a surprisingly great couple of games.
Unlike most D&D games, which tend towards text-heavy CRPGs, Chronicles of Mystara is good old-fashioned co-operative button-mashing fun, where you can wipe the floor with classic D&D monsters like gnolls and beholders as you side-scroll through levels, collecting loot and magic weapons.
It offers more than just nostalgia, though. This is the sort of game that you sit down with on an evening to turn your brain off for a few minutes and then find its stolen away hours.
For short games they offer a lot of replay value too, with branching paths and different enemies which give you a reason to try out multiple playthroughs.
The two games: Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara are pretty similar to each other. The latter is more-or-less an upgrade on the first, offering more variety. But some reviewers swear that the original is better, and the consensus is that both are worth playing.
If you want to take advantage of this deal, you'll need to act pretty fast. There's just over two days left before it expires, so if you want a 67% saving on this title, you've got until December 18, 2025 to make your move.
