Oh how far we've come from the days of graph paper and pencils. The modern Dungeon Master is spoiled for choice when it comes to mapping out their next Dungeons and Dragons campaign, from dry-wipe map books to virtual tabletops. But if you want a fully-featured solution for creating high quality maps of just about everything - dungeons, cities, landscapes, space ships, solar systems - then look no further than the Map Making Mega Bundle Encore, which has a whopping $1,373 of map making software and assets from ProFantasy Software for just $30.
If you're not familiar, ProFantasy Software makes dedicated graphic design software and a huge raft of supporting content tailored to the needs of dungeon masters. It's not lightweight software, and you will have to familiarise yourself with it before you can get results - but you can achieve things with it that would look right at home in official D&D books. And unlike other graphic design software, it's singularly focused on mapping.
The heart of the bundle is Campaign Cartographer 3+, an overland mapping tool for making world and region maps. Then there's a whole slate of bolt-ons that connect into Campaign Cartographer and expand it to make every other kind of map: Dungeon Designer 3 and City Designer 3 add tools for interior and urban maps; Cosmographer 3 adds everything you need for space campaigns, from star systems to spaceship layouts; and Perspectives 3 lets you swap into isometric drawing.
Six additional symbol sets, and 17 Cartographer's Annuals compilations, add additional tools to Campaign Cartographer. If you've ever used graphic design software, you'll be familiar with how the same 'brush' tool can have many different effects depending on what shape and color you set it to - Campaign Cartographer 'styles' are similar, though the tasks you put the tools to are very different. The Cartographer's Annuals expand the styles you have to cover many more genres, eras, and kinds of map.
There's other software in the bundle too. Fractal Terrains 3 is a standalone world generator, which can rapidly create the surface of planets and then let you tinker with parameters to fine-tune the results. And over in the section I'm going to call "cute but not essential" we have Character Creator 3 - think of it as a standalone version of the character creation screen for a retro D&D videogame that doesn't exist - and Dioramas 3, a tool for creating custom cut-out-and-print papercraft model buildings.
The bundle is live on the Humble Bundle store until December 2. And as with all Humble Bundles, a portion of the proceeds go to charity - in this case Save the Children, an international organisation providing humanitarian aid and development support for children around the world.
If you use Campaign Cartographer, we'd love to see you work in the Wargamer Discord community!
