It is the fate of every Dungeons and Dragons player to make that one overly cool character. You know the one, in a sea of funny lil guys, this character is your fanfic character made manifest. They will have the most flashy powers, angstiest backstory, and suave disposition. Maybe they're dropping more one-liners than an Austrian bodybuilder turned movie star. Or perhaps the silent but badass type, too cool to share their thoughts. Whatever the case, they're probably gonna need tattoos, and that's exactly what the Tome of Mystical Tattoos III provides.

This D&D 5e book is the third and final entry into the beloved series of enchanted ink. Don't think these are just stylish body art though, because these tattoos offer incredible powers. From the patterns and colors to the spot you decide to put them in, these tattoos will grant unique abilities that spice up gameplay. For the extra badass, you can even have the same tattoos as your intrepid adventurer. Now that's some high level immersion for your D&D character creation.
As for my interest, it stems from my love of Planescape: Torment. In that beloved classic, the Nameless One's progress literally coincided with new tattoos. Your experiences are formed not just by buying it from a merchant, but the adventures you've gone on. Rest assured, my next few campaigns are gonna feature these patterns, especially with features such as tattoo-based classes.
Speaking of campaigns, the Tome of Mystical Tattoos III's Kickstarter campaign has made ten times its initial funding goal. That's a heck of a green flag for a third party module, especially on its third entry. Even so, early backers will get some cool rewards, so it's still worth supporting.
The Tome of Mystical Tattoos III Kickstarter ends on December 3, 2025.
