Re: House of the Dying Sun

Don't tempt a man! Was it as awesome as I'm imagining? It was pretty amazing. Being able to track ships with your head is just so, so great. I want to play Rise of Flight like that. Oh, man. Yes. Actually, fortuitous timing. I picked up Flying Tigers: Shadows Over China in the sales, and talk about...

This is a great article. Would love to see similar "essential games" articles for other historical conflicts.
Thanks, Wulf! I'll see what I can rustle up.

Re: House of the Dying Sun

Love it to bits. The subtlety is what gets me; the whir-clunk of auto-loaders, the gentle chirps of tone lock. Helps that it controls wonderfully and isn't too heavy at all on the systems management - no shield management etc. The tactical layer is great; love assigning targets or zapping out to ove...

Re: Books

South Africa's Border War 1966 - 1989 / Willem Steenkamp A necessary Bush War tome and thankfully reissued. Big thumbs up, though as admitted in the foreword, there was little submitted or sourced in the way of FAPLA/SWAPO/Cuban/Soviet material, so the book is very much an SADF record. With that, t...
