We Were Soldiers: A Veteran's Take on Radio Commander

I have to admit this has been the toughest thing I’ve ever written for Wargamer. Last week we ran our review of Radio Commander, a game covering the Vietnam War...

Excellent commentary Colonel. I at one time spent time in a Btn TOC in Germany (As HHC XO I had responsibility to set it up). Now you have me wondering why they couldn't have used the real 1:50,000 maps in the game!!

Another thought I had was for the modern warfare this may not work because of all the location technology we now have - all your units are on the map in real time.

Until it breaks. We actually had a German Bundeswehr Reserve Motorcycle Courier Company assigned to HQ, 1st Armored Division for just such an eventuality.

Those guys were first class, never asked for anything, always prompt, never got lost. Slept on their BMWs the entire time we were in the field.
