For some reason an upcoming MTG Final Fantasy event will reward promos of Yuna in a Wedding Dress

In December, Final Fantasy Holiday Commander Box League events will give players a promo depicting Yuna, Grand Summoner in a wedding dress.

Yuna, Grand Summoner is a popular commander from the Magic: the Gathering Final Fantasy crossover set. As one of the commanders of the Counter Blitz Commander deck, Yuna encourages an aggressive +1/+1 counter based gameplan. Wargamer have already covered how she works awesomely when used alongside Saga creatures. Well, now she'll also be working alongside a spouse, apparently, as Wizards of the Coast have printed a new version of the card wearing a wedding dress.

From December 5th to December 11th, local game stores across the globe will run Final Fantasy Holiday Commander Box League events. Entrants will receive a Final Fantasy booster box, alongside a promotional copy of Yuna Grand Summoner dressed in a bridal gown.

This isn't the first eccentric Final Fantasy promo to come out this year. Contestants at the MagicCon Vegas pro tour qualifier event received a Kimono-clad Tifa Lockhart card punching the front of the frame.

Similarly, competitors in Regional Championship Qualifiers in October and November received an unusual Aerith Gainsborough card. RCQ Aerith is depicted in a Scarlet nightdress, gearing up to smash someone upside the head with a steel folding chair like she's about to make an epic wrestling entrance. Both of these cards are worth some serious cash, the Tifa promo currently sells for thousands of dollars on the secondary market, while the alt-art version of Aerith goes for hundreds.

Magic's designers aren't just putting Yuna in a wedding dress in the hopes that the card will become incredibly valuable. There's a Final Fantasy reference here. This is the same wedding dress that Yuna wears during her marriage to Seymour Guado in Final Fantasy X. That wedding does get violently interrupted, though, and it's all just a sham so that Yuna can attempt a magical dance that will send Seymour's soul to the afterlife (the plot of Final Fantasy X goes to some strange places). Nevertheless, she wears the same outfit in the game that's depicted in this card's art.

What's your take on this artistic choice? Is it all just an elaborate scheme to get more players to run the card Wedding Ring from Innistrad Crimson Vow? Let us know in the Wargamer Discord.
