The best Pokémon Pocket Wisdom of Sea and Sky cards

These are 8 of the best cards in the upcoming Pokémon Pocket set - Wisdom of Sea and Sky - as well as the support cards that make them oh so strong.

The next Pokémon Pocket set, Wisdom of Sea and Sky, is just around the corner, releasing July 29 at 11 pm PDT. There are loads of exciting new cards coming in this release, and the full card list has been spoiled, so here are the ones you should be paying attention to.

Cherubi

Starting off with something smol, Cherubi is basically a baby Pokémon in disguise. It's not a great Pokémon in itself, but what's awesome about it is, if you managed to stick a Poke Tool onto it, you can use Sweets Relay for free.

This has the potential to be a huge buff to the Alcremie deck. Being able to attack a turn earlier will allow you to more consistently reach the point where Alcremie just wipes the board away. The grass typing is a problem, but I'm very interested to see how this works out.

Eevee

Speaking of upgrades to existing decks, Eevee is a huge part of the meta right now, and that's likely to continue, as this set contains two pretty awesome Eeveelution exs. Currently the card-drawing Collect Eevee is the one players are opting for, but this card's ability to pull Pokémon into the hand might just have it beat.

Porygon2/Z

This is a super interesting Pokémon, as it's really similar to Stoutland but with a neat ability that makes actually getting to Porygon Z incredibly consistent. Once there you've got the usual effect of making attacks more expensive. It only applies to the Active Pokémon, so if they switch out this is no good. On the other hand, unlike Stoutland, Porygon Z doesn't need to be in the Active spot to maintain the effect.

Lugia + Ho-Oh

The stars of the set, these two legendary Pokémon cards work really nicely together, with Ho-Oh loading up Lugia with energy, which it can unleash to wipe away the competition. Time will tell how strong this combination is, but you're definitely going to encounter it in the first weeks of the new set.

Crobat ex

Crobat ex is a great new card for poison decks. What helps this card out is all its preevolutions apply poison as well. And this archetype already has plenty of support, with Nihilego making the poison effect super brutal.

Skarmory ex

This ex card would only be okay by itself, but it gets a boatload of help. With Jasmine and Steel Apron working together you have the potential to reduce damage by 80 in total, while completely nullifying status effects. Sorry Crobat!

Will

While it's not quite clear how good this card will be, it's already one of the most exciting supporters released on Pokémon Pocket to date. There are so many Pokémon that this can work with, from Fan Rotom, to the new Xatu, to Guzzlord. It's a brewer's dream. The thing is, you'll probably only want to play Pokémon that are also good when Will isn't around, as you'll only have two copies in your deck.

Umbreon ex

We already mentioned the horrifying power of Umbreon ex, which can Cyrus your opponent again and again. I was a little unsure if it would actually work out as well as it looks, but that's because I hadn't seen Absol yet. With these two working in unison, some sort of dastardly Darkness deck looks like a goer.
