Price of Mega Latias ex box gradually trending down, but still $10 higher than MSRP

The Mega Latias ex box is growing cheaper, but is still difficult to find at the $21.99 price tag recommended by the Pokémon Company.

It can be very difficult to secure Pokémon TCG products for their manufacturer's suggested retail price, or "MSRP". Pokémon cards are incredibly popular and often sell out during the pre-order period. The Mega Latias ex box is just one more example of a hyper popular Pokémon product that's difficult to find for a good rate. Its listed price in online markets has come down a long way since it was released, but it still hasn't dropped to the amount recommended by the Pokémon Company.

The Mega Latias ex box launched alongside the Mega Evolution expansion on September 26th. The official Pokémon Center website offers Pokémon TCG products for their recommended retail price, and because of this, it always sells off its stock pretty promptly. The site lists the Mega Latias ex box at an MSRP of $21.99 (£16.72).

According to data from TCGplayer, picking up a copy of this box from the secondary market currently costs $33.08 (£25.15). This is a 50.4% increase compared to the listed price. While these prices are certainly higher than the MSRP, they remain significantly more generous than they were on launch day. On the 26th September, Mega Latias ex boxes were selling for $51.71 (£39.31), which is 135% higher than the asking price.

The box contains four boosters (two from Mega Evolution, and two from Destined Rivals), a foil Mega Latias ex promo, and an oversized promotional Mega Latias ex card.

While the price is gradually trending downwards, most products like this plateau before reaching their MSRP. For example, the Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex box from Destined Rivals has a recommended price of $21.99, but is currently listed for $36.69 (£27.89).
