The recently revealed Mega Meganium ex card from Ascended Heroes forms a powerful combo with another Meganium from the set Mega Evolution.

It's always important to believe in yourself, and if there's one Pokémon card that shows us the power of self-love and self-respect, it's Meganium. The newly revealed Mega Meganium ex card from the upcoming expansion Ascended Heroes forms a powerful combo when it's used alongside a previous printing of itself from Mega Evolution. Let's explore how this floral dinosaur can stomp the competition flat by working together with its past self.

A screenshot showing both the cards Meganium and Mega Meganium ex. The two can pull off a powerful combo when used together.

Mega Meganium ex's one and only attack, "Giant Bouquet", deals 70 damage, plus an additional 50 damage for every grass energy attached to it. Then there's Meganium from Mega Evolution that has an ability, Wild Growth, which doubles the energy provided by its controller's grass energy cards.

Putting these effects together means that every grass energy card attached to Mega Meganium ex will boost the power of Giant Bouquet by 100, rather than just by 50. With just three energy cards attached to it, Mega Meganium ex will dish out a whopping 370 damage per attack. This means that it can KO just about any other Pokémon out there, except for those with the very highest HP.

Sadly, this effect doesn't stack. So slamming out additional copies of the older version of Meganium won't pump up the power of Giant Bouquet any further. Of course, when you're dealing 370+ damage with every attack, gaining any additional power is almost always overkill.

Mega evolved versions of Feraligatr and Emboar, the other starters from Pokémon Legends Z-A, have also been revealed. Like Meganium, they will be available in Ascended Heroes packs.
