After the official announcement of Pokémon Mega Dream ex last week, Pokémon TCG fans have been clamoring to see more cards from the upcoming 'high value' Japanese set. Well, those wishes were granted recently, as a slew of new spoilers were shown off. N, the enigmatic green-haired king of Team Plasma, has clearly been busy since many of the new Pokémon were caught by him, including a frankly fearsome looking new full-art Zekrom. We've also been shown a new legendary Pokémon that finishes a pattern that has been running for multiple expansions.
Of all of the new cards that have been revealed, N's Zekrom is easily the highlight. This staggering spark plug of a Pokémon is just crackling with electrical power, particularly in its Illustration Rare printing, where it looks like it's getting ready to bring the thunder. The Illustration Rare printing of N's Reshiram, from Journey Together, has fluctuated across the $30 (£22.80) to $15 (£11.40) price range. Is Zekrom destined to occupy a similar place in the market, or will Reshiram pull ahead again, just as it did after the release of Black Bolt and White Flare?
While not generating quite as much hype as N's Zekrom, Mega Froslass ex is the second biggest reveal from Mega Dream ex this week. Froslass's new mega form debuted in Pokémon Legends Z-A, so this is Mega Froslass's cardboard debut. Currently, we've only been shown the regular treatment of this card, but there's sure to be a variety of more deluxe printings waiting in the wings to be snapped up by Froslass fans.
Then there's Entei. This version of Johto's most majestic fire doggo is the final member of a trio of cards that were separated out into three different expansions. The set Mega Evolution gave us a Raikou card, Phantasmal Flames gave us a Suicune, and when the cards from Mega Dream ex are released in English, we will have our Entei. All three of these legendary dogs are remarkably similar. They all have a 30 damage attack that deals 90 additional damage if you have four or more energy cards of their type in play.
