World of Tanks’ first in-game event of 2021, XP Fever, will run for three days, from midnight ET / 5am GMT / 6am CET on January 23, to the same time on January 26. As the name suggests, it’s focused on giving players extra ways to farm more experience points (XP) to expand and upgrade their collection of in-game war machines.
The meat of the update is in the five new XP Fever missions, which span all but one of the game’s ten tiers of tank classes; the first mission covers tiers two to five, meaning newer players will first need to get themselves a tier two tank to benefit from this event.
But there are also fresh discounts on two tanks launching 24 hours ahead of the XP Fever promo (they’re live now and last until the events on January 26), in the hope you keen tankers will snap up a new set of tracks for the occasion. The two models on offer – the Soviet LT-432 and French FCM 50 T – are available in ‘Standard’, ‘Ultimate’ or ‘Supreme’ flavours (with increasing amounts of Gold and other goodies bundled in) and – somewhat predictably – the new event-specific discounts are only available on the more expensive latter two editions.
All the details of the new missions and discounts are below for your delectation.

World of Tanks XP Fever tank offers
Here are the tanks on offer, along with what Wargaming says about them:
LT-432
The LT-432 might be listed as a light tank, but its armor values are on a par with, and even superior to, some medium tanks, while the quick-firing gun allows you to prey on weakened enemies with ease. Paired with a very low profile, a high top speed of 70 km/h, and overall good mobility, you will be running laps around the battlefield, scouting for your team, and picking off weak opponents left and right.
FCM 50 T
The FCM 50 T also punches outside of its tank class. While the icon says heavy tank, the stats scream medium in almost every way. High mobility, an armament with a high rate of fire, and a reliable but not necessarily thick armor make this French hybrid the perfect support tank and a versatile combatant. Roll with your heavy teammates and fire from the second line, use the outstanding power-to-weight ratio to ram unsuspecting enemies, or attack your opponents from the flank with your medium mates.
World of Tanks XP
It’s also worth mentioning that Wargaming has temporarily discounted the cost (in Gold) to exchange Combat XP for Free XP. For the duration of the event, one Gold will let you convert 35 XP to Free XP, rather than the usual conversion rate of 1:25.
If it’s been a while, here’s a refresher on how WoT’s XP economy works:
COMBAT XP
Combat XP is tracked for each specific in-game tank. You earn more via your performance in battle with that tank, and you can spend it on:
- Researching all the upgrades for the tank
- Unlocking new tanks within the same branch of the tech tree
- Running Accelerated Crew Training to continually upgrade your favourite crews
- Converting it to Free XP.
FREE XP
Free XP accrues automatically as a small percentage of your Combat XP, but you can spend Gold to convert a bigger portion of your Combat XP pool into Free XP.
Why bother? Because Free XP is more versatile – you can use it to:
- Research upgrades and modules for any tank
- Unlock any new standard tank
If you haven’t tried World of Tanks yet – why the hell not? You can play for free right now.
