Upcoming Pokémon sets in 2026
The next Pokémon TCG set to release in English will be Perfect Order (POR), on March 27.
After that, we'll be getting Chaos Rising, the English partner to Japanese set Ninja Spinner, on May 22. Beyond that, the most exciting upcoming set is Pokémon 30th Anniversary, which The Pokémon Company confirmed with a trailer in February and is due to release this year - at some point.
Here's a tracker of all the upcoming Pokémon sets confirmed for release in 2026:
| Set name | Code | Total cards | Release date |
| Perfect Order | POR | 124 | March 27, 2026 |
| Chaos Rising | CRI | ~124 | May 22, 2026 |
| 30th Anniversary Celebration | ? | TBC | October 2026 (Predicted) |
Read on for everything we know about the newest upcoming sets to be revealed!
Chaos Rising - May 22
Only recently revealed, Chaos Rising is the English parallel to Japan's long awaited Ninja Spinner set, starring (of course) Mega Greninja ex.
The shinobi frog isn't alone on the billboards for this one, though. The Pokémon Company has already dropped four other headline card spoilers, including three other Mega Evolutions: Mega Floette ex, Mega Pyroar ex, and Mega Dragalge ex.
Oh, and a li'l cutie Espurr, who's apparently wandering past a police station at night time, for some reason.
By the numbers, Chaos Rising reportedly has:
- Five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex (including one we haven't seen)
- Five Pokémon ex cards
- 11 Illustration Rares (IRs)
- 18 Ultra Rares and Trainers
- Six Special Illustration Rares (SIRs) and Supporters
30th Anniversary Celebration set - release TBC
The Pokémon Company has finally confirmed that we will get Pokémon 30th Anniversary Celebration set in 2026 - but we don't know when.
When the game celebrated its 25th birthday in 2021, Pokémon Celebration released in October - so we're pencilling in October for now as our approximate, predicted release window. It looks like it will be a treasure trove of beloved cards from across the game's lifespan - check out our first impressions to learn more.
For context on what we might be seeing before that, here's what we know about the current release schedule of the Japanese TCG:

Pokemon sets FAQ
The list above tells you every set released in Pokémon TCG history - but there's more to the story of Pokémon cards than that! Read on for answers to some of the most common questions about sets, to help you get a handle on the hobby.
How many Pokémon sets are there?
As of January 2026, there have been 126 English language Pokémon sets that were legal to use in organized play at the time they were printed.
The pace of Pokémon sets picked up last year, with a huge bubble of fan hype and interest for releases around January 2025's Prismatic Evolutions, and shows no sign of abating. In fact, this year (2026) is the 30th anniversary of Pokémon TCG's original launch, so there's every chance the hype train could speed up over the coming months!
If you want to store a large collection of cards, our guide to Pokémon card sizes has their dimensions and weight so you can work out exactly how much space you'll need.
How many Pokémon sets are released every year?
Around three to four Regular Pokémon sets are released each year - usually accompanied by two to four special sets and smaller promotional packs.
For example, in 2025 there were seven sets in total, including:
- Four regular sets - Journey Together, Destined Rivals, Mega Evolution, and Phantasmal Flames.
- Three special sets - Prismatic Evolutions, White Flare and Black Bolt.

What are the different types of Pokémon sets?
There are three main types of Pokémon TCG sets:
- Regular sets: The TCG's mainline releases, Regular sets are the 'tentpole' events of each season, releasing at roughly regular intervals each year with a large number of cards. Regular sets are normally available in quite a few different product types, including booster boxes of 36 ten-card booster packs.
- Special sets: Also sometimes called 'Special Collections', these sets generally have a smaller overall card list and a specific theme that underpins their most prominent cards. Special sets don't get booster boxes and are normally sold in Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs) and small promotional packs like Binder Collections.
- Mini-sets: A catch-all term for all smaller set releases that don't merit the 'Special Collection' label, but are still a distinct collection of new or reprinted cards. These usually come in their own seasonal or promotional packs, like the three-card Trick or Trade mini packs released around Halloween, or promo tins.
Which Pokémon sets are worth money?
Generally, the older and more scarce a Pokémon set is, the more valuable it is. First-edition copies of Base Set, the original Pokémon set, are worth the most money. Individual booster packs can sell for thousands of dollars, and booster boxes are even more ludicrously priced. Many of the individual cards from this set can be just as valuable (if not moreso), provided they're still in good condition.
While this is the ultimate chase set for hardcore collectors, most sets from the early 2000s are hard to find in the form of a sealed booster box.
On the other hand, modern Pokémon cards while never reaching the heights of the older sets, can still be worth a pretty penny. Right now the Pokémon card market is booming, with many recent cards selling for hundreds of dollars.

What's the best Pokémon set?
The best Pokémon TCG set is the one that has your favorite cards in it - which could be any of them! Sorry we can't be more precise, but there's really no 'best Pokémon set' that applies to everyone.
If you're chasing the most expensive cards, you might consider the oldest sets (as described above) the best, as they give you a chance at pulling something worth new car money.
If you're in love with a particular chase card that's desirable right now, then that card's set might be the best for you - Bubble Mew lovers will likely rank Paldean Fates highly, while Moonbreon stans probably rate Evolving Skies.
If you want to buy the best Pokémon set for you, decide which cards or card types bring you most joy - and why - then find the sets that include those cards. If you're getting into Pokémon card collecting to fill a binder with your favorites, make a hit list and go hunting! If you're building an all-star team of super-strong cards, our guide to most powerful Pokémon in the game can help you in the quest.
And - for now - that's it for our guide to Pokémon TCG sets! If you've got a favorite to support, or just want to join the hype about upcoming sets, come hop into the Pokémon TCG discussion in our Discord community! Chances are we're also salivating over the latest chase SIR, too.
Alternatively, we've got lots more Pokémon TCG guides to help you along - our tutorial on spotting fake Pokémon cards is good to keep handy if you're considering spending money on valuable singles. We can even help you answer the twin age-old questions - how many Pokémon are there, and how many Pokémon cards are there?
